Free Texts!

I've added a new gadget on my blog! If you look over to the right side of the screen and scroll down to the About Me spot, you'll see the Free Text feature. Just type in your name as sender, the recipient's Philippine cell number, your message and your good to go! Btw, don't forget to type in the correct security code too. Just a precaution, you know. There are lots of people who likes to take advantage of this stuff and send a whole lot of spam.

Happy texting guys!

Order Now And Get Your Geo Contact Lenses 3 MONTHS Later! Money Back NOT Guaranteed!

Let me tell you about my experience with a certain seller of Geo Contact Lenses.

May 16/17

The Seller had a pre order for Geo Contacts. Last day of placing orders was May 16/17 2010 and ETA was June 1. I placed my order of 8 Geo Contacts and sent down payment equal to half of the total price for the 8 contacts.

May 28 to 1st week of June
I asked for updates on the contact lenses through text and email. I was in a bit of a hurry to get them coz i had to give it to my friend's aunt who was visiting Cebu for 1 month so she can carry it with her when she flies back to Dubai --- saving a lot on DHL or FEDEX. The seller didn't reply to any of these, not until 1 week later saying she was busy with board exams. Sure board exams are important but business is business. IMO anyhow, if you're into business it's only proper to to accommodate customers no matter how busy you are with other non business-related things.

Somewhere June 15 to 30
She contacted me saying that the arrival of the contacts will be delayed because there were problems with the distributor. ETA was moved to July. By this time, all hope for sending the contacts to Dubai free of charge are lost.

July 2
The Seller hasn't contacted me since and I've been sending her emails and text messages. She didn't reply to any of this not until I wrote a negative review on her FB page. Read it here. The Seller contacted me saying that 5 of the contacts that I ordered were not available. This really ticked me off. I have been waiting for more than a month, now you tell me that my orders aren't available???

I know preorders aren't on hand items but will be arriving soon after placing orders. And I have placed my orders -- last May. I was given a quote for the total price and that I should send half of the money as down payment for the orders to be processed. By giving me a quote and advising me to send down payment is an assurance that the orders are available and is just waiting to be shipped.

I asked for a refund. I have to. This is going nowhere and it's giving me undue stress. However, she wouldn't give me the refund. Why? She reasoned that 3 of the contacts that I ordered were available. I paid for 8 contacts and I should get all 8 or a full refund. But she wouldn't. And here is where I'm at a loss. I have already given her the money and she can do whatever she pleases. It just sucks that there's no law that protects me as an online buyer --- not that I know of anyway.

She further informed me that the contacts will arrive mid July. And guess what? July passed and still no contacts and definitely no refund.

July 15-30
She says that the contacts will be arriving and that she'll contact again soon.

August 1st week
She sent a message on my FB saying that there will be meet ups at Ayala and also included the total price for the 3 contacts and "refund" for the 5 contacts that weren't available. Adding insult to injury, she charged me full price for the 3 contacts. I asked her why when she quoted me a discounted price last May and she answered that since I "cancelled" the 5 contacts, I will be charged full price for having orders of less than 10 pairs.

This is absurd! I didn't cancel them, they weren't available!!! How can I cancel orders when they weren't even there?!? Her reply? The contacts were already available 2 weeks after she told me that the contacts weren't available. WHAT THE F---!!

I have waited for 3 long freaking months and this is all I get? I am just out of words! She's just...unbelievable! Just freaking unbelievable! After all my years of online shopping, I have never been treated as such.

Hold on to your seats coz I haven't told you the best part yet!

August 14
I was working overtime from 6am to 6pm and it was a busy day. From the time I woke up, I already texted her that I should be given the original price that was agreed upon and of course she disagreed. The day wore on and I my head was throbbing from anger and frustration. I was so drained when I headed to Ayala for the meet up. When we met, she just gave me the contacts and the so-called "refund" and left. SHE DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE!!

After three arduous months, wasted time, energy and money, and a hell of a day, I was just too tired to argue. The only good thing about it was knowing that I didn't have to deal with her ever again.

P.S.
Beware of Shryne Siglos. She has accounts in facebook called Just Lenses and Just Lenses Primary and also in Istorya.net/forums

It's Hong Kong Baby!

After years of procrastinating, I've finally convinced my mom to go on a vacation and we're going to Hong Kong! Yey! Of course, I had to do some bargaining to get her to say yes. I agreed to pay half of our plane tickets. And I do mean just half. I'm a nurse for crying out loud! A nurse in Cebu, that is. It's a sweet deal already. Plane tickets are just a small fraction of the expenses when you look at the big picture. Hotel accommodations, food, shopping *clears throat* and transportation will put a considerably big hole in your pocket. So, I'm quite contented with my contribution and so is my mom, I hope. =)

Now, I'm on the hunt for hotels. There are quite a lot to choose from actually but I've set my sights on the Tsim Sha Tsui district. It's closer to most of the attractions. It's also where I stayed on my HK vacation a few years back and I was quite satisfied with it. Unfortunately, hotels don't come cheap here and a night's stay would be averaging from 4k to 6k on mid-range accommodations. Hmmm...

I'm also considering hostels but my mom's gonna be with us so I don't know if she'll be OK with that. If my memory serves me right the place where we stayed back then was a rather old and creepy building. It had a scary looking elevator that made me want to take the stairs instead -- even if I'd be climbing 10 floors up to our room! I did find ones more decent ones on Trip Advisor but I'm still considering it.

Oh, but why all this planning when the trip is still a few months off?! It's not really obvious that I'm this excited. LOL. =)

Where Art Thou Zee??

Haven't been updating my blog lately and for good reason.

1. I went to Manila last weekend (for a day). I was supposed to see my Dad but I wasn't able to catch him as their ship set sail earlier than expected. The flight was also delayed for an hour and a half. When I got to Manila at 9pm, I wasn't able to get a taxi right away since I had to fight off other passengers and deal with the drivers who do not want to use the meter. It's 250 for a ride to Malate from NAIA 2!! But the good thing was, I got to visit the bead shops in Quiapo and had a spree! =)

2. When I did get back to Cebu, I was sleepless and tired and I had to go to work in a few hours so I had to catch some zzzs.

3. It was my bestfriend's birthday and couldn't miss that one out (even if my muscles were aching from fatigue!).

4. Had to reformat my laptop coz the DVD drive wasn't working. Installed XP but it didn't work out well so had to reinstall Vista. Note: this isn't an easy feat for me as I have no experience whatsoever with hardware stuff and OS installations. I did it all by myself (mainly) and had some help with an Angel over the phone. *wink*

5. When I did get some free time, I was beading! LOL. Also got my hands on a Wirework magazine which showed very interesting projects and all the things you can do with a piece of wire! =)

Seems I had a busy busy week. Soon, I'll be updating with pics from my Manila trip, foodtrips after work and my new bead work! =)

Black Saturday Veggie Madness

While all the other "normal" people with "normal" work schedules (with office hours 8 to 5, Mondays to Fridays) were enjoying the extremely long weekend holiday -- it's Holy Week, the "losers", like me, were at work. Hospitals don't have holidays but we do get to enjoy additional incentives during these occasions. :) Another good thing about working on a holiday is that it's less busy as well. It was in 2C anyway.

As it was Holy Week, there was a scarcity of food shops opening to feed the hungry hospital employees like me. Choices were also limited as Catholics are bound to eat only veggies as a symbol of sacrifice and repentance, blablablablahhh.. -- as if having to work in this particular time of the year isn't sacrifice enough! Anyhow it was lunch time and my stomach was begging to be fed so I had to eat something or risk having stomach ulcers and other problems.

With a fellow nurse, we went to a local fast food nearby, Orange Brutus. There was Jollibee but she already ate there the other day and didn't like the Bangus meal coz it had a fishy aftertaste. So there we were lining up at the cashier giving our orders. It turned out that they only served tuna sandwich and veggie roll, for the day. I chose the latter.

The food was served in about five minutes. Along with the veggie roll came the sweet and sour sauce that looked AND tasted more like water with red food coloring and bits and pieces of chili seeds. I should have told the waitress, or anyone responsible for the consistency of the sauce, to go easy with mixing water to it but I was too hungry to care.

I wolfed down my food and it just so happened I ran out of sauce. So, I got up and asked the woman behind the cash register if I could have some more and to my utter disbelief, she said I had to pay for it. What?? Pay for a sauce refill?? That's unheard of! What food chain would charge their customers extra for sauce?? Apparently Orange Brutus does. They charge extra for a refill of their watery, tasteless red thing with chili seeds. Can it even be called a "sauce"?? I don't think so.

Since it was Black Saturday, I didn't give much thought of the incident. I did keep it in my mind though. It's a nice idea for a blog too. Too bad, I wasn't able to bring my phone with me. I could've taken a picture of what I was talking about.

Anyway, the shift ended and I went home. So much for having clean thoughts and words on a Holy Day.

Computer Fixing and American Idol

Here I am on my day off sitting in front of the laptop while American Idol's on TV. Why am I here instead of watching my favorite show? Because it's the only time I have to finally fix my DVD drive. The effing thing isn't working!

Ok. Here's what happened. I was burning some stuff on a DVD-R a week ago and it did the job just fine. When I was done, I shutdown as usual and went on with the other things I had to do. Later, I wanted to burn some more data but I couldn't find the DVD drive icon on My Computer nor was computer detecting the DVD (or any CD for that matter) I placed inside it. What went wrong??

I googled it up and found out that it's a really common problem. I saw some solutions like deleting some "filters" thing on the registry and installing a registry "fix it" thing but nothing works! Oh, please excuse (my utter lack of) computer lingo. I'm a blogger not a computer technician. =P

I've been restarting so many times. Uninstalling drivers and reinstalling them again and then restarting again. I'm losing patience and hope especially now that I 'm missing American Idol. Argh! Why'd this have to happen?

Oh well. I hope this can be fixed soon. I need to burn some data so badly. The total space of my hard drive is nearly full!

I'm giving up for now, I'm watching American Idol! Yey!

The Joys AND Pains of Driving

Who knew that I would EVER be allowed to drive a car? Ever since I hit the legal age, I had been asking (to the point of begging) my mom to be allowed to drive but I was never given that opportunity -- not until a few months ago. I didn't ask her. I asked him (my dad). Teehee. I knew he'd say yes. And he did! He did! Aren't I daddy's little girl?? LOL.

The first time I drove all by myself was with an A/T Honda Civic hatchback -- my brother's. I was SO freakin' scared! My heart was pounding in my chest, my hands were all sweaty and I think I held my breath the entire time (if that were possible)!

I remember, I was at an intersection and I was supposed to go straight but then I ended up in the right turn lane because I was too afraid to change lanes. I reached my destination a good hour after I left the house because I took that right turn and had to go back to the original route. I was so relieved when I arrived. I don't think I got to enjoy that first drive. By now, the fear has gone. I've finally enjoyed driving but I prefer doing it in the wee hours of the morning or night where there are lesser cars on the road.

I discovered It's kinda nice to have a car around. You can go anywhere and anytime you like -- not that anything has ever stopped me from going out when I was car-less -- but it's more convenient to drive and you get to enjoy air conditioning as well. If you have somewhere to stop by before you get to where you want to go, you can do that. You can also bring loads of stuff and not be burdened of carrying it around. You can keep extra clothes just in case there's somewhere you need to go after work.

Ahhh... this is the life. Or is it??

The total turnoff of this new "gadget" is the gas. It's really, really expensive! What with the gas prices rising and all. There are times when I pay for a gas refill I'd think, "This could've been a new pair of shoes or a really good book". *Sigh* Oh well. The price you pay for a taste of luxury.

For now, I'm thinking of giving up this thing. It has its benefits, no doubt about that, but I think I was better off with out one. This might sound unheard of but I kinda enjoy riding public transportation. Dangerous, true, but hey, that's life. You never know what happens on the road even when you're the one driving.
