Where Art Thou Zee??
Haven't been updating my blog lately and for good reason.
1. I went to Manila last weekend (for a day). I was supposed to see my Dad but I wasn't able to catch him as their ship set sail earlier than expected. The flight was also delayed for an hour and a half. When I got to Manila at 9pm, I wasn't able to get a taxi right away since I had to fight off other passengers and deal with the drivers who do not want to use the meter. It's 250 for a ride to Malate from NAIA 2!! But the good thing was, I got to visit the bead shops in Quiapo and had a spree! =)
2. When I did get back to Cebu, I was sleepless and tired and I had to go to work in a few hours so I had to catch some zzzs.
3. It was my bestfriend's birthday and couldn't miss that one out (even if my muscles were aching from fatigue!).
4. Had to reformat my laptop coz the DVD drive wasn't working. Installed XP but it didn't work out well so had to reinstall Vista. Note: this isn't an easy feat for me as I have no experience whatsoever with hardware stuff and OS installations. I did it all by myself (mainly) and had some help with an Angel over the phone. *wink*
5. When I did get some free time, I was beading! LOL. Also got my hands on a Wirework magazine which showed very interesting projects and all the things you can do with a piece of wire! =)
Seems I had a busy busy week. Soon, I'll be updating with pics from my Manila trip, foodtrips after work and my new bead work! =)

Black Saturday Veggie Madness
While all the other "normal" people with "normal" work schedules (with office hours 8 to 5, Mondays to Fridays) were enjoying the extremely long weekend holiday -- it's Holy Week, the "losers", like me, were at work. Hospitals don't have holidays but we do get to enjoy additional incentives during these occasions. :) Another good thing about working on a holiday is that it's less busy as well. It was in 2C anyway.
As it was Holy Week, there was a scarcity of food shops opening to feed the hungry hospital employees like me. Choices were also limited as Catholics are bound to eat only veggies as a symbol of sacrifice and repentance, blablablablahhh.. -- as if having to work in this particular time of the year isn't sacrifice enough! Anyhow it was lunch time and my stomach was begging to be fed so I had to eat something or risk having stomach ulcers and other problems.
With a fellow nurse, we went to a local fast food nearby, Orange Brutus. There was Jollibee but she already ate there the other day and didn't like the Bangus meal coz it had a fishy aftertaste. So there we were lining up at the cashier giving our orders. It turned out that they only served tuna sandwich and veggie roll, for the day. I chose the latter.
The food was served in about five minutes. Along with the veggie roll came the sweet and sour sauce that looked AND tasted more like water with red food coloring and bits and pieces of chili seeds. I should have told the waitress, or anyone responsible for the consistency of the sauce, to go easy with mixing water to it but I was too hungry to care.
I wolfed down my food and it just so happened I ran out of sauce. So, I got up and asked the woman behind the cash register if I could have some more and to my utter disbelief, she said I had to pay for it. What?? Pay for a sauce refill?? That's unheard of! What food chain would charge their customers extra for sauce?? Apparently Orange Brutus does. They charge extra for a refill of their watery, tasteless red thing with chili seeds. Can it even be called a "sauce"?? I don't think so.
Since it was Black Saturday, I didn't give much thought of the incident. I did keep it in my mind though. It's a nice idea for a blog too. Too bad, I wasn't able to bring my phone with me. I could've taken a picture of what I was talking about.
Anyway, the shift ended and I went home. So much for having clean thoughts and words on a Holy Day.

First Day High? First Day Low!
I was so enthusiastic this morning when I was inspired to blog again. I had all these ideas on what to blog about and I couldn't wait to begin! Adrenaline was rushing through my veins and I was wide awake even if I had only slept a mere 4 hours -- Went out with the girls, got home at 1am and woke up at 6am because my stomach was begging for food.
The day went just as well as it wore on. Went to church with Intsik (It's Palm Sunday!) and together we had lunch with my Mom. The day couldn't have gone better than expected but I guess I spoke too soon.
I was on the afternoon shift, 2pm to 10pm today. As usual, I left the house at 1 expecting to arrive around 1:30 at The Hospital, punched in and merrily, went down to the station where I was assigned. The same old routine.
What happened after that was like a whirlwind and all in a blur in my mind. I can't even recall a particular thing that made it a busy-busy-BUSY day. It seemed like everything was just so so wrong. I can't post details here as I am bound to keep my mouth shut about patients and their crazy, out of this world, "what-the-hell-were-you-thinking?!" moments.
I felt like I was stuck in a nightmare that would end, hopefully, at 10pm. The high I felt earlier was suddenly sucked out of me and I was drained of every shred of energy and optimism. It felt like what I had this morning was from a different time in another world.
I'm just glad that it's over. The nightmare did end but not at 10pm. The shift never ends on time. It was somewhere near 11 when I punched out. I didn't look. I didn't care. I just wanted to go home and crawl to bed.
I hope tomorrow will be a better day.
P.S.
What cheered me up during the entire 8 hour shift was dinner! Barbecue with the 2C staff.. =)
